MUSIC
REQUIREMENTS: Competition
tapes must be turned in between 10am and 12noon on Day One at the
registration desk. Each routine must be on a separate cassette tape,
clearly identified with title, teacher's name, school name and category.
Please provide two (2) cassette tapes for each number entered. Recordings
must be on high quality tape, in stereo and recorded at a standard
volume level. Tapes must be cued with no more than three (3) seconds
lead time. A deduction of five (5) points will be made if tapes
are not cued. CDs will also be accepted for competition.
SCORING
& AWARDS: Each routine will be adjudicated on
cassette tape(s) by three judges based on 100 pts. each for technique,
presentation, musicality, choreography, precision and appearance.
Each routine will be given a rating: 210-239
Bronze 240 - 269 Silver 270 -over GOLD. 1st, 2nd, and
3rd place trophies will be awarded in each category based on highest
scores. All ties will be broken by the technique score.
REHEARSAL:
Production numbers receive 4 minutes on stage to walk through their
positions when possible. NO dancing, NO props, NO music allowed.
JUDGES
CRITIQUES: Teachers only, please pick up Score Sheets/Audio
Tapes, Judge Critiques, and your cassette tapes the day after the
competition at the Registration Desk. Dancers and parents are not
permitted to discuss scoring, comments, or results with judges.
ENTRY
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Competition will be limited to the first 95 entries.
2. Each performer can enter in a maximum of 8 numbers per studio.
3. Each studio can enter a maximum of 9 solo competitors, three
in each age division.
4. Only three gymnastic tricks per routine will be allowed, unless
registered in open category.
5. Students may not compete for more than one studio.
6. All routines must be appropriate for family viewing, and listening.
Coaching from the wings or audience is prohibited.
7. No teacher or professionals may perform with students. Assistant
teachers may compete.
8. Deadline for any changes will be 2 weeks prior to the convention.
9. Solos, Duos, Trios, Groups and Lines are limited to three (3)
minutes maximum per routine. Production numbers are limited to four
(4) minutes per routine, adeduction of (5) points will be made for
those routines that do not comply.
10. Any type of general prop is permissible. Use of knives, swords,
or fire is prohibited.
11. Competing dancers should be ready 30 minutes prior to the scheduled
competition time.
12. Competition money and convention money must be submitted at
the same time. Please write a separate check for each.
13. During competition, every contestant must wear convention-issued
wristbands or disqualification may result.
14. All contestants must be registered along with their teachers
(no exceptions) for the entire convention.
15. There must be at least two competitors in each category in
order to receive overall high score monies. In the event that there
is only one competitor, the category will be combined with a different
but similar category with the same style of dance.
There
will be a $3.00 admission charge for anyone not wearing a convention-issued
wristband.
